1.My Africa

I have been to Africa! My journey had one precise destination: Ethiopia. To this day, I am haunted by memories, while I treasure each and every moment of it. Thus, living in a world which is often hostile to the human being, I cannot help feeling that I belong to Africa, as well. To honor the two worlds, I have pretended to be a mask – the ubiquitous mask you come across anywhere you go.

This is how I have managed to build a bridge between two parallel worlds which I love unconditionally.

2. The dream of the cross

In Europe as well as in Romania almost all Christians place crosses bearing the silhouette of Jesus Christ at the edges of roads. During my photographic endeavors I have encountered an Orthodox cross I liked very much, and together with it I decided to partake in an investigation into its possible dreams. In order to accomplish this at first I initiated an installation by temporarily covering it with a transparent plastic veil. I then digitally modified the photographs I took of this installation, thus creating a possible representation of this crosses’ dreamscape.

3. The lost re-Eden

When you travel as a photographer it is recommended to stay off the main road for as long as you can. Doing this enables you to come across things, situations and strange, different and amazing worlds that you won’t be able to meet on the main road. Thus, between two major Romanian cities, I have met two villagers who decided to break off from the social norms of contemporary life. They have chosen a simple, humble life in which their most prized possession is their faith through which they have created a unique and authentic world that resembles the recreation of Eden.

4.Africa Way

Africa is an collection of things, feelings, beings and images. This is why I have chosen a collage for the photographic series entitled "Africa Way", thinking that this would better express the state and feeling of the African universe where nowadays tradition blends with modernity.

5. Connections

Water is extremely important for the people living in Africa. Water is extremely important for the animals belonging to the people living in Africa. It is very simple, water is extremely important in Africa. This transforms its scarceness into extremely beautiful and dramatic rituals. Thus, Singing Well, which is the name of the daily domesticated animal watering, becomes a ritual, a life scene in which all the connections named above are present.
